Lake District Photo Gallery - Exploring Bowness Town

Bowness is a well-established tourist town with lots of independent shops and restaurants. There is a surprisingly large number of art galleries, too.

This is a good base for your bed & breakfast to explore the rest of the Lake District. If you don't have your wheels, both Bowness and Windermere are well-connected by bus to the other main Lake District towns. Route 599 reaches Ambleside and Grasmere. Windermere might be slightly more well-connected since they have a frequent 555 that heads all the way north to Keswick but the down-side is you are far from the lake.

The United Kingdom is famous for its grey skies and rain. Be sure to plan some rainy day activities while you are in the Lake District because more likely than not, it will be wet at some point of your journey. I saved the hikes and outdoor walks to the sunny parts of the day while window-shopping is perfect for the rest.
