Cordoba Photo Gallery - Part 6 (Jewish Quarter)

The Jewish Quarter sits west and northwest of the Mezquita. The community was persecuted by the Visigoths so they allied with the Muslims, hence their district is located near the centre of power. Patterned after the medieval Islamic city, there are many smaller streets and alleys within the walls to protect against Christian attacks. I wandered around this neighbourhood to appreciate its white buildings and cute patios.

Ruins of the old Muslim baths are located across from the Mezquita, where visiting patrons had to purify themselves before entering the mosque to pray.

Casa Andalusi is a 12th century house that is now a museum with many artifacts from the Muslim era and before with beautiful courtyards and rooms.

Calleja de las Flores is a narrow alley with balconies full of flowers.
