The Former Residence of Lin Congyi was built in the Ming Dynasty.

The Former Residence of Liu Qixian dates from the Qing Dynasty and consists of 4 buildings. Liu's grandchildren started an electric power business and the courtyard is home to the modern grey-brick Fuzhou Telephone Company building.

Interestingly, the lanes on the other side of the main shopping thoroughfare were much quieter, perhaps since there are less houses open to the public.

The Residence of the You Family dates from the Ming Dynasty. You Xianmo was a wealthy merchant in the late Qing Dynasty that gained its fortunes from silk.
