Lake District Photo Gallery - Aira Force

The Aira Force waterfalls were already known as a pleasure ground during Victorian towns. The National Trust purchased the property in 1906 through subscriptions and donations.

After paying for parking, follow the path uphill through the forest with many huge and imposing trees. There are paths on both sides of the river bank, and 2 bridges across the river where you get to see the 65-foot falls up close.

There are several parking lots for the falls. I parked near the lake and walked uphill. There are also 2 other lots further uphill at Park Brow and High Casdades, where you are a bit closer to the river's upper reaches before the falls.

I headed back downhill on the other side of the river, where there also are well-manicured paths towards the parking lot.
