The flight path into Heathrow from the east offers spectacular views from the City, past Westminster, and through the West End. These views were taken on a flight from Hong Kong during the early summer evening hour.We entered London from the north. With a right window seat, I followed the city from Stratford past Westminster and the West End for a sunset landing. Stratford was earmarked as a key transformation area for the 2012 Olympics. The legacy is a huge new mall, many residential buildings, and a park with several sports facilities.
Here is a sneak preview of Central London in the distance. We'll fly near it very soon.
Canary Wharf is quite built up now and has a mix of commercial and residential skyscrapers.
I got to see London's key attractions, including the Shard, St. Paul's, Parliament, and the London Eye.
The other big Westfield mall is in the western part of the city.
North Acton is also a regeneration area with a new high-speed rail line to the north expected to come through here. The Elizabeth Line's opening has also brought lots of property development through this area.
