Longji Aerials Photo Gallery - Ping'an Village

Longji's rice terraces are a spectacular piece of engineering, rising up to 1200m above sea level. Named after their resemblance to the dragon's backbone as it unfolds along the mountains, there are 2 major areas to visit in the area - Ping'an and Dazhai. The oldest terraces date back some 2300 years!

It's not that far from Guilin and there is a modern highway to reach Longji's ticket office in 1.5 hours. However, the 2 areas of terraces are quite far apart - almost an hour's drive, and not easily accessible by public transport. I ultimately decided to charter a driver for 400 yuan for the day from Guilin, excluding the highway toll of about 75 yuan roundtrip.

From the ticket office, it's a 30 minute drive up a series of bends to reach Ping'an, transferring to a park buggie to the first viewpoint. There are few hiking trails to various viewpoints overlooking the terraces and the town below.
