Shanghai Photo Gallery - Pudong Airport Terminal 1 & Satellite

Shanghai has 2 major airports, with most international and long-haul flights using Pudong, while Hongqiao covers regional destinations and domestic flights. They're at different ends of the city but both have train connections.

Designed by French architect Paul Andreu, who had also worked on many other airport projects around the world, Terminal 1 is the older facility inaugurated in 1999.

There are also bus gates on the ground floor.

A new satellite terminal opened in 2019 with 90 boarding bridges that will handle 60-70% of the airport's traffic, pushing the total capacity to 80 million passengers a year. Half the building belongs to Terminal 1's satellite, while the other half is for Terminal 2.
