Stockholm Photo Gallery - Östermalm Saluhall

Saluhall opened in 1888 after just 6 months of construction. 10 proposals were received in an architecture competition but the owners chose 2 young architects instead for the project, who created a design inspired by brick architecture.

The city purchased the building in 1914 and legislated a market trade ban on the square outside, forcing traders to move inside. After a 4 year renovation, Saluhall re-opened in 2020 as a food hall once again.
