Surabaya Photo Gallery - Part 3

A Chinatown arch rises on the east side of the bridge, but behind it is not the typical vibrant markets I would expect.

A short walk away is a very local grocery market, Pasar Ikan Pabean spills over into neighbouring side streets.

Take another Grab from the Red Bridge to the Arab Quarter. Your driver will let you off on the main road and you will have to walk into one of many narrow lanes which lead to Mesjid Ampel, the city's oldest and most sacred mosque. Sunan Ampel lived in the 15th century and was one of 9 saints credited with bringing Islam to Java.
