Tianjin is often overlooked due to its proximity to Beijing. Being only 30 minutes away by high-speed train, come here for a day trip at least. There is enough historical architecture to explore for a full day.

This legacy comes from the treaty port days when foreigners settled to trade in the late 19th century. Similar to Shanghai, they set up their own concessions which were self-contained worlds.
