Valencia Photo Gallery - Part 7

The City of Arts and Sciences consists of stunning architectural pieces mostly designed by Santiago Calatrava built on 36 hectares of former Turia riverbed along a 2km axis. The buildings' boldness have put Valencia on the international stage and was my first impression and key reason why I included it on my itinerary. That being said, I actually liked the historic centre more but overall, no regrets for coming here.

Unfortunately, with only 2 full days in town and most of it spent in the historic centre, I only had enough time to walk around the periphery and there wasn't enough time to visit the exhibitions or interiors in detail.

Palau de les Arts, or the opera house, opened in 2005 as the final building in the set.

Across the street is Hemisfèric, a 3D cinema, and the Science Museum.

Hemisfèric was the first building to open in 1998. The 3D cinema has a 900m concave screen and the whole building resembles a large eye of wisdom to observe the world.

With an exterior that looks like a whale skeleton, the interactive science museum has 4 floors to explore and is geared towards children.

A relatively recent addition in 2009, the metallic Agora is a multipurpose performance venue that is 88m long by 66m wide.
