Palace of Culture and Science & Royal Castle

Stalin gave this giant 231m landmark to Warsaw after World War II. Thanks to the work of 3500 Soviet workmen, it stood in contrast to the ruin left by the Nazis.

The area surrounding the building is still mostly empty. One side of it is a big parking lot with this surprise historical relic on display.

The interiors are well-maintained but echoes history all over.

The observation deck is open to the elements. If you are tired, have a seat on the bench or one of these beach chairs to relax and enjoy the winter cold.

The other historical landmark nearby is a reconstruction from an even older era. The Royal Castle was rebuilt in the 1970s-1980s after it and the rest of the area was destroyed during World War II.
