My week-long adventure to Poland covered Warsaw, Krakow, and Wroclaw. I was surprised to find new and clean infrastructure as well as a good contrast between restored historic and Communist-era architecture. The World War II relics are quite moving and heavy on the heart but well worth seeing.
Devastated during World War II, Warsaw was rebuilt in the following decades, with the restored Old Town earning UNESCO World Heritage status in 1980.

Palace of Culture and Science & Royal Castle
Head up to the observation deck to admire the changing face of Warsaw, then see how their old landmark was rebuilt and redecorated after Nazi devastation.

Praga
This decrepit neighbourhood across the river is seeing a renaissance.

Wilanow Palace
Although located in a distant location, the trip out is easy by bus and the palace is well worth a visit.
