Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route Photo Gallery - Part 2

On the other side of the mountain is Daikanbo, a smaller and crowded station as everyone is concentrated inside. Head up to the rooftop deck for a view of the mountains. These are different from the views at Murodo.

The next stage is a ropeway to descend from Daikanbo's 2316m elevation down to Kurobedaira at 1828m.

After viewing the ropeway from both sides, it is time to descend through the mountain by cable car to the Kurobe Dam.

Standing at 186m tall, Kurobe Dam is Japan's tallest and was built after World War II to generate power. The construction project was massive with tunnels dug through the mountains to access the site.

Today, trolley buses take tourists from the dam through the mountain to Ogizawa, the end of the journey.
