Oxford Photo Gallery - University Church (St Mary the Virgin)

St Mary's has been the heart of the medieval university since the 12th century, being used for special occasions such as awarding degrees to students. The oldest section of the church is the tower, which is worth the climb but the church itself, which mostly dates from the 15th century, should also be visited. Historically, this place saw some prominent events, with 3 Anglican bishops tried for heresy here in 1556.
